Regional Airports Hold Key

Titan Construction Insurance believes that regional airports could hold the key to the problem of overcrowding at the country’s south east airports.

Titan Construction Insurance believes that although it’s likely that the third runway will be built at Heathrow, it will take some time to get through the well-organised opposition and still not fully alleviate the airport’s problems which operates continually at near capacity.

By taking some of the country’s many regional airports and expanding their operations, says Titan, it means that capacity pressures could be lessened in the south east and also provides a number of economic benefits for the country as a whole. Not only would construction work increase across the country – extending runways and taxiways, building new terminals – but money would be brought into the regions. Plus, transport links would also have to be upgraded, which means more construction.

Chief Executive Officer of Titan Construction Insurance, Basil Tsapralis, said:
“The problem with all the current airport strategies around alleviating the busy three – Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted – is that everything focuses on the existing sites and everything that entails. We need to stop being so London centric and pass some of the dividends to the regions. And there are a number of well sited regional airports that would be ideal for expansion and development.

“We need to broaden our horizons and stop trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.”

Titan Construction Insurance is one of the largest brokers in the sector and has built its business on providing high customer support, together with competitively priced policies.
