Titan Sports Club Insurance worries that many sports clubs and organisations will find the going tough in 2012 as the economy tightens people’s purse springs even further.
Titan reports that sport has held up comparatively well since the start of the crisis since 2008, but is concerned that as disposable income gets squeezed even further, then some clubs will see falling membership and fewer spectators.
And the real hardship will be felt not in the spectator levels of top flight sports (such as Premiership football games and the flagship tournaments, for example Wimbledon) where demand usually outstrips supply, but in the actual participation within some of the minority sports. And the worst affected will be those sports which are heavy on equipment, or specialist hire.
But Titan warns that no short cuts should be taken when insurance is concerned. Sports clubs and organisations need all the proper cover for public and private liability.
Chief Executive Officer of Titan Sports Club Insurance, Basil Tsapralis, said:
“It’s pretty tough out there for everyone, but we strongly advise clubs and organisations not to take shortcuts when it comes to getting the right cover. Everyone involved in sport at whatever level should have the best cover that can be arranged for them. We can help by providing that necessary cover at the most competitive prices in the marketplace.
“This is exactly the time when a club needs a skilled advisor, who can direct to them to the best range of cover, but also keep an eye on prices.”
