Titan Warehouse Insurance was reminded of the risks associated with operating a warehouse when recently watching a satellite television channel programme.
Called ‘I Pity The Fool’, it’s a programme presented by Mr T, a former actor from the cult television series the A-Team (he played Bosco Albert “B.A.” Baracus). It’s an American reality television series which highlights, amongst other things, mistakes made at work.
One of the common themes is workmen in warehouses mishandling logistical machinery designed to move materials around. A number of the clips feature forklift trucks being backed into shelving units which then collapse and disgorge their goods over a floor. One recent clip showed an operator backing his machine into a very high shelving unit which fell, causing a large number of other shelves to fall in a domino effect.
Titan Warehouse Insurance believes that the programme offers valuable lessons, not least to be insured against worker errors.
Chief Executive Officer of Titan Warehouse Insurance, Basil Tsapralis, said:
“This programme is good fun to watch, as long as you don’t own, or operate a warehouse. Every week there’s horrible footage of forklift trucks dismantling stacked shelving and spreading goods over the floor. Another clip showed a forklift truck hitting a sprinkler system and setting off a shower of rain throughout the warehouse. The damage in monetary terms could run quickly into the millions of pounds.”
Titan Warehouse Insurance is one of the UK’s largest operators in the sector and is known for its competitive pricing and excellent levels of customer service.
