Titan Business Insurance believes that the Business Secretary’s remarks in a recent leaked letter about the Government’s attitude to business reveals a growing tension within the Coalition which is not good for UK commerce and industry.
Vince Cable is alleged to have said, in a leaked letter, that the Government, of which he is a part, “…a compelling vision of where the country is heading beyond sorting out the fiscal mess…” and, when it comes to life after the current crisis, it has no “…clear and confident message about how we will earn our living in future.”
The letter from the Business Secretary, which was sent to David Cameron and Nick Clegg, went onto to say that the current approach is piecemeal, that valuable opportunities are being missed and that there is no clear strategy for the future.
Chief Executive Officer of Titan Business Insurance, Basil Tsapralis, said:
“We all know that leaked letters are rarely leaked without the writer’s knowledge and although we don’t know the background to this particular letter, this is a damning assessment from one minister about his Government’s inability to not only handle the crisis, but have a strategy for the future.
“We need the Coalition to be singing from the same hymn sheet and having one minister with such a view, might not be helpful for business as we move forward.”
