” Some who purchase insurance through a Comparison Website are finding
they cannot claim ”
This is the headline in the Sunday Times (12/06/2011) claimed by the
UK’s financial watchdog, the Financial Services Authority (FSA).
Comparison websites or Aggregators may be misleading customers the FSA
review has found. In fact, they are to investigate 19 of Britain’s
largest price comparison websites.
Principally, the concerns are that the comparison websites do not ask
the relevant questions which could lead to gaps in cover and the
possibility of your claim not being paid.
The Regulator states: ” Consumers maybe being misled about the services
they are receiving from comparison sites. ”
Our advice is that when buying insurance don’t just rely on the
comparison websites alone but seek alternative sources such as insurers
direct or brokers who specialise.
